An Oshawa senior got to celebrate her special birthday surrounded by friends and family in a special way this year.
Norma Cubitt turned 101 on Sunday, with friends and family celebrating with a birthday drive-by outside of her retirement home.
Friends and family braved the thunderstorm that rolled through Oshawa Sunday afternoon to wish Cubitt a happy birthday and deliver birthday cards.
“I’m feeling great today,” says Cubitt, as she smiles and waves each time a new friend drives by to wish her a happy birthday.
“I’m pleased to be able to be surrounded by friends and family,” she says, adding her secret to life is “good living.”
Cubitt has made Traditions of Durham Retirement Residence her home for the last seven years.
Staff say she is very active and loves to participate in the many activities that are offered.
“Everyone enjoys Norma’s engaging conversations, quick wit and her smile.”
