Arrest made over suspicious fire

Police have laid charges against an Oshawa male they say set a home on fire.

At approximately 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, officers responded to a residence on Ferhill Boulevard, north of Bond Street West, to assist with a fire call. The fire was quickly put out by Oshawa firefighters. Nobody was in the home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

The Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office was been called in to investigate after initial responders to the scene said they suspect the fire was set deliberately.

Police made an arrest on Thursday Feb. 4.

A 44-year-old Oshawa male has been charged with arson causing damage to property, arson endangering life, possession of an incendiary material, threatening death and taking a motor vehicle without consent.
