A fond farewell, if but brief
Saying farewell is never easy, no matter how brief the interlude.
The Oshawa Express has been an integral part of the city of Oshawa since 2005 when we opened our doors to provide the community with a more comprehensive news package for readers.
We have had many reporters cover the stories of the city, no matter whether it was a murder trial or a simple cheque presentation from a business that raised money for charity. Oftentimes, The Oshawa Express was the only newspaper to represent a dwindling media in the area.
We have won many provincial awards for our writing and coverage in the Ontario Community Newspaper annual competitions, one year picking up five main awards for our investigative reporting and best news stories.
Our pages have been home to many businesses that have remained loyal to this newspaper and believe in our readership, the strength behind our product. Competition in the newspaper industry keeps prices reasonable for business and prevents price fixing.
While we take a pause during this economic hardship the pandemic has caused in this second wave, The Oshawa Express will return in its printed format.
For now though, we will continue with our easy-to-navigate website at www.oshawaexpress.ca where we will continue daily to publish news, entertainment, lifestyle stories, sports and all the tidbits that go into a newspaper. This will not change during the pandemic.
So until we meet you at your door again in the future, keep safe.
