$50,000 prize for two Oshawa women

Lottery winners

Oshawa residents Bonnie Govier, left, and Lima Steeves are the lucky winners of $50,000 in the Living the Life lottery. They are planning on taking a trip to either Nashville or Las Vegas.

Two Oshawa women are the winners of a big amount of cash – $50,000 to be exact.

Bonnie Govier and Lima Steeves are both winners of the March 31 draw of the Living the Life lottery.

“I was at the store on April Fool’s Day when I decided to scan our ticket at the self-checker when the self-checker indicated I won, I thought it was a joke,” Govier states in a news release. “I asked the store employee to double check and it was real. We won.”

When Govier called her co-worker Steeves to let her know the good news, she didn’t believe it either.

“Ten minutes later I arrived at the store and I just started jumping around like a little kid. We are both so excited,” Steeves states.
Govier and Steeles have been playing the lottery together for almost 10 years. They want to use their winnings to go on a trip to Las Vegas or Nashville, according to the news release.
