Woman mugged for cell phone

A woman had her cellphone stolen from her during an early morning street level robbery.

Police responded to the area of Glen Street and Porter Street at approximately 1 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28 for a robbery call. According to police, the victim was walking behind Glen Street Public School when a group of six males walked towards her. One of the males then grabbed her by the arm and, after a brief struggle, stole her cellphone from her hand.

The suspect fled the area alone, last seen running east through the field.

The victim, who was not physically injured, ran home to call police.

The suspect is described as a white male, 18 to 20 years old, approximately five feet and seven inches tall and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts that extend past the knee, a grey ball cap and was carrying a colourful backpack.
