Woman attacked with skateboard
Two teenagers are facing charges after a female was attacked with a skateboard.
At approximately 3 a.m. on Dec. 8, Durham police responded to a ground-floor unit at an apartment building in the Taunton Road East and Mary Street North area for an armed person call.
According to police, two males, who are known to the occupants of the apartment, knocked on the hallway door. The female victim answered the knock and, after a brief argument, was struck on the head with a skateboard. As the suspects forced their way inside, the female’s spouse came to her defence and forced the suspects back into the hallway.
The suspects ran from the building and after breaking a window outside the apartment, were chased by responding officers in a lengthy foot pursuit before both where arrested on Nonquon Road. One suspect had severely cut himself when he smashed the window.
The 33-year-old female victim was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for a severe cut to her head. The suspect who cut himself was treated at hospital.
An 18-year-old male of Fourth Avenue in Uxbridge and a 17-year-old male from Oshawa are both facing charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon; mischief under $5,000 and uttering threats in connection with this incident.
