What to do with waste after a power outage

After last month’s power outage, residents have more food waste than usual. If you’re not sure what to do with the spoiled food, the Region of Durham has answers.

If all the food waste can’t fit in your green bin, put it in a compostable bag and put it on the curbside in a cardboard box labeled food waste.

Green bins are collected on regular waste days. If you’re not sure when your pick-up day is, check durham.ca. You can read more about food safety during a power outage at durham.ca/foodsafety.
