Wet weather hits the city

Heavy rains over the last week have pushed Lake Ontario to its highest levels since 1993. The beach at Lakeview Park and the adjoining pier were nearly swallowed up and large waves crashed against the shoreline. Blaine Scott, above, takes in the spectacle during the storm’s peak on Friday. The high water levels forced the closure of Simcoe Street South leading to the beach. However, according to information from the City of Oshawa, the water levels have peaked and will now begin receding.
