Those looking to get some cash for their hard work restoring classic cars have another reason to come out to Autofest 2015 – the return of the Vintage Auto Insurance Championship Series.
This time, however, the chances to win are even better.
For this year’s edition, only four auto shows will send winning cars to the final bracket – and Autofest is one of those four.
Unlike last year, each show will see multiple entries – for the pre- and post-1960 classes.
Up for grabs is $10,000 in prizes, with $5,000 going to the winner, $2,000 to the runner-up and $1,000 to each of the semi-finalists.
An extra $500 goes to each of the voter’s choice winners.
“(Autofest) was specifically selected by way of geographical location and historical car composition – in other words, by way of reputation,” reads a release from Vintage Auto Insurance.
Cars are entered just by registering for Autofest. Judges from Vintage Auto Insurance will make their way through the selection of cars at the show, asking questions of the owners of any cars that catch their eye.
The judges will pick three or four cars that will be put into the tournament, with online voting starting in January. The field of 16 cars will be whittled down to the final battling duo, with the winner announced at next year’s Motorama Show in Toronto.
One Oshawa vehicle from last year, a 1964 Chevrolet Impala, made it into the final four, so there’s no telling how far your ride will go!
