UOIT women’s soccer club could soon find themselves number one in Canada after racking up a ninth straight win to start the 2017/2018 season.

As of press time, the Ridgebacks were second in the Canadian university rankings, but with top-seeded Laval tying over the weekend, UOIT could make its move to the top this week.

In nine games so far this season, UOIT has scored 22 goals while only giving up six.

The team’s latest win came on Sept. 24 against Royal Military College (RMC).

Taijah Henderson added to her league-leading goal total, scoring in the 43rd and 86th minute as the Ridgebacks went on to defeat the RMC 4-0. This brings her season’s tally to eight goals.
Cassandra Sribny opened the scoring in the third minute with her fifth goal of the season.
With Henderson’s first, UOIT found themselves ahead 2-0 at halftime.
The four UOIT goals came from 16 shots on goal, while they only allowed four against Victoria Savage, who earned the clean sheet.

The Ridgebacks are next in action Saturday, Sept. 30 in Peterborough against Trent University.
