U16s drop Pickering in EBLO playdowns

It was a big weekend for the Oshawa Legionaires, who advanced to the 2016 OBA Midget AAA Championships after a walkoff 8-7 win over Ajax-Pickering.

The win clinched the sweep for the Legionnaires in the best-of-three series.

Andy Nopper was the winning pitcher in relief and also drove in the game-winning run with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Isaiah Quick also had a pair of RBIs on the night.

The Midget AAA championships begin Aug. 26 in Mississauga.
