Teen arrested over violent assault

Police have arrested a teenager and are seeking a second following a violent assault over the weekend.

At approximately 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, a 16-year-old male was in the area of Cedar Street and Carlton Court when two male suspects known to him confronted him. Police say one of the suspects showed a handgun tucked into his waistband before spraying the victim in the face with pepper spray.

The victim was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries to his eyes.

The next night, one of the suspects was arrested at his home without incident. A black BB gun and ammunition was found in his backpack.

A 14-year-old Oshawa male has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon and two counts of carrying a concealed weapon in connection with this incident.

Police have applied for a warrant for the second suspect, another 14-year-old Oshawa male.
