Teen arrested after group threatened with rifle

Three males from Toronto face a combined 35 charges after a rifle was pointed at a group of people on an Oshawa street.

On Sept. 30, at approximately 11:50 p.m., officers in Central East Division responded to the area of Simcoe Street South and First Avenue in Oshawa regarding an armed person. A bus driver observed a grey Dodge Caravan travelling southbound on Simcoe Street South with a male inside the van appearing to fire a rifle towards a crowd of people at a nearby convenience store.

The van continued into a parking lot just south of First Avenue and was quickly surrounded by responding officers. Three suspects were arrested and a Kel Tec 9mm rifle was seized after being located under a seat. Police also seized a quantity of drugs from the van.

Investigators searched the area and found no evidence that the weapon had been fired. There were no injuries or property damage reported.

Three males, aged 20, 21 and 18, all from Toronto are facing a series of charges including: possession of weapons dangerous, pointing a firearm, carry concealed weapon, possession of restricted firearm; and possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking. All three were held for bail hearings.
