A suspect who was operating a stolen vehicle was arrested after jumping out of a second storey window to avoid police in Oshawa
On May 29, at approximately 11:30 a.m., police were patrolling in Oshawa near Elm Street and Celina Street when they observed the suspect operating a stolen vehicle. Officers followed the man to a parking lot on Simcoe Street South, and attempted to arrest him. The man resisted arrest by punching and kicking the officers, evening biting one of them.
Officers deployed a conductive energy weapon, which was ineffective and the suspect fled into a nearby residential building. The officers pursued the suspect into an apartment and the suspect jumped out of the second storey window.
Other responding officers were on the ground floor and the suspect was taken into custody. He was not injured.
A 30-year-old man of Pentland Street in Oshawa is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, breach of a recognizance, assault with intent to resist arrest, driving while under suspension, breach of probation and possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine/fentanyl).
