Security guard charged with courthouse thefts

A 21-year-old security officer working at the Oshawa Courthouse has been charged with multiple thefts.

According to a release from the Durham Regional Police, officers at Central East Division began an investigation after several reports of items stolen from secure areas at the courthouse were received. The incidents occurred in April, May and June of this year.

A suspect was identified and arrested earlier this week.

A 21-year-old male of Dunwell Crescent in Ajax, is charged with seven counts of theft under $5,000. He was released on a promise to appear/OIC undertaking.
