The Durham District School Board and the union representing its office, clerical and technical staff have come to an agreement on a new deal.
The new deal between DDSB and CUPE Local 218 Office/Clerical/Technical Unit was ratified at a union meeting on June 27 and a special meeting of the school board on July 7.
“On behalf of the Durham District School Board, I want to thank everyone involved in this bargaining process for their hard work and cooperation demonstrated in reaching a collective agreement,” states Michael Barrett, DDSB’s chair, in a news release.
“I am pleased we were able to reach a collective agreement. Through hard work and dedication we were able to overcome difficult issues and we look forward to continued positive labour relations and our partnership in education,” states Rod King, CUPE Local 218’s president.
The new deal is in effect retroactively to Sept. 1, 2014, and will last until Aug. 31, 2017.
