The Robert McLaughlin Gallery hosted its first-ever socially distanced RMG Fridays drive-in to a sold-out crowd.
RMG Fridays Coordinator Carla Sinclair says more than 100 guests attended the event which showcased music by The Doozies, a virtual exhibition tour of the RMG’s Permanent Collection Exhibition: Journeys, and two short films by Durham filmmaker Nicholas Dragas, presented by DRIFF.
“The outdoor event allowed attendees to experience RMG Fridays in a new and engaging way while adhering to social distancing and safety guidelines,” states an RMG press release.
Attendees were asked to remain in their vehicle while watching the event and were required to wear a mask or face covering if entering the gallery.
“The feedback from guests has been very positive,” says Sinclair, noting the gallery hopes to be able to host another event in September if the gallery can garner enough support through crowd funded donations.
“It was a wonderful way to spend a summer’s eve and take in some art.”
