Rent prices remain stable in July

Average cost of one bedroom unit in city $1,200, up 4.3 per cent from 2018

Rent prices in Oshawa remained stable in July, but continue to be above 2018 levels.

According to a report from PadMapper, the average price of a one-bedroom apartment in the city last month was $1,200 – the same as June.

However, this represents a 4.3 per cent jump from the same time last year.

The average cost of a two-bedroom apartment in Oshawa remained the same at $1,390, which is still a 6.9 per cent jump from 2018.

The report, which reviews hundreds of listings across 24 of Canada’s largest cities, places Oshawa as the 12th most expensive market.

The most expensive market for a one-bedroom is Toronto at an average price of $2,300, a 7.5 per cent increase from June 2018.

Renters will pay the most for a two-bedroom in Vancouver at $3,090

The cheapest option for a one-bedroom apartment is Quebec City and St. John’s, NL at $810. For a two-bedroom, St. John’s is the cheapest option at $890.
