Region hosting 44th annual auction

Durham Region is once again offering items from its surplus to the general public through its 44th annual auction.

Office materials, maintenance supplies, mechanical equipment and vehicles, among other items, no longer needed by the region and its eight area municipalities will be up for grabs.

Auction items can be previewed on Sept. 29 between 4 and 6 p.m.

On Sept. 30, the gates will open at 8 a.m., with the auction beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Durham Region Works Depot, located at 825 Conlin Road in Whitby.

Purchases can be made via cash or debit. High-cost items and motorized equipment can be put on hold with a $500 deposit (payable by cash, debit card, bank draft or certified cheque). The remaining balance must be paid before the item can be picked up.

All purchases can be picked up after the auction, but no later than Monday, Oct. 2 at 3 p.m.

Purchasers are asked to note items are sold “as is” and Durham Region does not inspect items, or provide any warranty or guarantee on any of the items sold.

Proceeds from the auction are using by the region and its municipalities for ongoing operations.
