Price of bus fares going up

Looking to hop on the bus? Expect to be forking over some extra cash very soon.

Starting May 1, riders of Durham Region Transit (DRT) will see an increase in fares. Adult and student cash fares will be going up to $3.75, up from $3.50. Seniors and children will also have to hand over some extra funds, paying $2.50, up from $2.25.

Riders using a Presto card will continue to get a break from the cash price, but will still have to pay more than before, with the adult Presto fare going up a nickel to $3.05.

While the price of transit is going up, DRT states it will add more buses on the PULSE Highway 2 route, and add more bus service throughout the region.
