Drivers in south Oshawa will be facing some detours this winter as Thornton Road South, just north of Champlain Avenue, will be closed as of this week to complete the construction of a new sanitary sewer.
The road is scheduled to be closed for approximately four weeks but region officials warn unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
The same stretch of road was previously closed between late-December and early-January.
Additionally, Champlain Avenue is scheduled to be reduced to one lane in both directions for approximately two days this week to permit work within the intersection of Thornton Road South.
Drivers are reminded to exercise caution when travelling near construction projects for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and workers.
