Police canine quickly locates robbery suspect

A police canine helped to locate an armed robbery suspect in Oshawa.

On Sunday, April 21, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of a robbery at AM/PM Convenience Store on Wilson Road in Oshawa.

The female suspect, who was armed with a knife, made a demand for cash and fled from the store with a small quantity of money.

The canine unit responded to the robbery and assisted with tracking the female to a residence on Highland Avenue, where she was located in the backyard and arrested.

The clerk was not injured in the incident.

The 34-year-old woman of no fixed address is charged with robbery, disguise with intent and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

She was held for a bail hearing.
