An Oshawa teen initially arrested for public intoxication is now facing a drug trafficking charge in Peterborough.

Peterborough police were called to the area of Lansdowne and Ashburnham Streets just before midnight on Saturday, July 23 after receiving a call about a male walking in front of traffic.

According to police, after the male was arrested for public intoxication, they found he was in possession of bath salts, a designer drug which can cause hallucinations.

A 17-year-old male of Oshawa has been charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking in connection with this incident.
