Parkwood names new executive director
A new face will soon take over the helm of Oshawa’s historic Parkwood Estates.
Laura Mountjoy, who is set to officially become the executive director on Nov. 9, has more than two decades’ worth of experience in the non-profit sector, including heading the Charles H. Best Diabetes Centre, which provides support and disease management to those with Type 1 Diabetes, and 22 years as the executive director of the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which supports children living with chronic, serious and life-threatening diseases.
“On behalf of the board of directors of the Parkwood Foundation, I am delighted to welcome Laura Mountjoy as the new executive director,” states Nancy Shaw, the board’s president, in a news release.
“Her wealth of experience and demonstrated leadership in the charitable sector will position Parkwood as a significant destination for tourism, weddings and events, and film and television productions.”
