Oshawa in full bloom

The city is about to get a whole lot more colourful as the 13th annual Peony Festival kicks off this weekend.

Running June 10 and 11, the free event takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens located beside Children’s Arena.

Viewers will get to see hundreds of peonies, along with artisans, live music, Chinese cultural performances, gardening and culinary demonstrations and art and photography competitions.

The event has been named one of the top 100 festivals and events in Ontario and alongside the 300 types of blooms in the peony gardens, hundreds of cut blooms will also be on display inside the arena during the Canadian Peony Society Ontario region, judged show.
