Oshawa’s trustee for the Durham Catholic District School Board has resigned due to health reasons.
Paul Pulla was first elected to the board in 2014 and earned re-election last fall.
It was far from his first role with the board, as he had served as a teacher, principal, and director of education as well.
“It’s been an honour to serve the Durham Catholic learning community with Mr. Pulla as a member of the board. His deep commitment to our Catholic faith and his vast experience and understanding of our school system is appreciated. On behalf of the board of trustees, we wish Mr. Pulla the very best,” said John Rinella, chair of the board.
DCDSB director of education Anne O’Brien said Pulla had made a profound impact on the Catholic school system.
“He has consistently demonstrated leadership, passion for Catholic education and an unwavering focus on student achievement and well-being. We are grateful for his service.”
Pulla had served as one of Oshawa’s two trustees, along with Morgan St. Marie.
According to a board media release, trustees will decide how they want to fill Pulla’s vacant seat in April.
