Ontario Tech student run over during game
A scavenger hunt at Ontario Tech went bad recently in Oshawa.
According to Durham police, at about 8:10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, officers were called to the Ontario Tech campus regarding reports of a man being run over by a car.
Police say a 20-year-old student was involved in a fraternity game called “Capture the Brick,” a scavenger hunt-type activity.
The man located a 2020 Mini Cooper which he believed contained the brick, and laid down in front of the car to prevent it from leaving.
According to a police report, another student entered the vehicle without realizing his friend was in front of it, and drove over him, causing serious injuries to the victim, including a fractured leg and shoulder.
The student was transported to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.
