Only three Durham beaches open
A majority of Durham’s beaches have been marked unsafe to swim in.
According to new numbers from the region’s health department, 11 out of the region’s 14 beaches – including Oshawa’s Lakeview East and Lakeview West – have been found to have E. coli numbers above acceptable limits.
For a beach to be posted as unsafe to swim in, there has to be 100 E. coli or more per 100 mL of water.
The only three beaches marked safe to swim at are Brock’s Beaverton Beach North, Uxbridge’s Elgin Pond and Scugog’s Kinsmen Beach.
