One sent to hospital after crash


A 72-year-old Oshawa man has been charged with careless driving after a northbound Jeep veered into the opposite lane and hit a southbound truck.

An Oshawa man was sent to hospital after the Jeep he was driving hit an oncoming truck.

According to Sgt. Bill Calder, police arrived to the scene at Simcoe Street South just north of Bloor shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday, March 7.

Calder says a northbound Jeep crossed the center line on Simcoe, veering into the southbound lanes and may have struck the curb on that side before coming back over toward the northbound lane. However, while veering back across, the Jeep hit a truck head on.

The driver of the Jeep was sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 72-year-old male of Oshawa has been charged with careless driving in connection with this incident.
