One beach open, one beach posted

Swimmers looking to escape the heat by taking a dip at the beach should check the region’s beach postings before hitting the water. Lakeview Beach West has been posted due to a high bacteria count.

One of Oshawa’s beaches has been posted for high bacteria counts, according to information released by the region’s health departments.

Lakeview Beach West was posted as of July 16, one of two in the region to be so; the other being Beaverton Beach North in Brock.

According to Durham’s health department, beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when E. coli levels reach above 100 bacteria per 100mL of water.
