Nominations open to honour environmental achievements

The Durham Environmental Advisory Committee (DEAC) is accepting nominations for the Environmental Achievement Awards, celebrating environmental excellence in 2019 and 2020.

The awards program provides an opportunity to recognize individuals and organizations that dedicate time to promote, preserve and enhance the region’s natural environment.

“Past nominees have demonstrated measures undertaken to protect the environment to help ensure Durham Region continues to be a healthy, sustainable and safe place to live, work and play,” states the region.

The deadline for this year’s nominations is April 30, 2021.

Established in 2003, the DEAC Environmental Achievement Awards recognize and acknowledge the environmental achievements of individuals and organizations in the public, private and non-profit sectors within the region.

The awards program has eight categories, which were named in memory of past environmental leaders.
