Mural A wins public vote

Residents can expect to see a new mural along the retaining wall near city hall after a design made by a Durham College student won a public online vote.

Oshawa residents have spoken: Mural A is the way to go.

Following an online runoff that saw more than 400 votes cast, more than half picked Mural A as the winning submission for a new mural to be placed on the retaining wall outside of city hall.

“The plan is to go from a monochromatic colour scheme to brighter and more cheerful colours, including a stained-glass-like pattern that will show detailed glimpses of Oshawa and its main attractions,” states Allanah Larsen, the designer of the winning mural, in a news release.

“Thanks to everyone who took the time to review and vote on the mural. I believe this colourful abstract art will add to the vibrant atmosphere being created in our Civic Square,” states Councillor Bob Chapman, chair of the community services committee, in the same release.

“I’m looking forward to seeing it in place.”
