Mulcahy wins Whitby’s North Ward byelection

mulcahyWhitby’s council chambers are finally back up to a full roster.

Rhonda Mulcahy raked in 1,950 votes in the by-election to fill the seat for Whitby’s North Ward, giving her more than enough to beat runners up Sean Perkins, who had 1,147 votes, and Nathan Staneland’s 1,054 votes.

According to her website, Mulcahy is the owner and publisher of the Brooklin Town Crier and a lifelong resident of Brooklin.

The by-election was called earlier this year after the ward’s former councillor, Derrick Gleed, was appointed to fill the regional councillor vacancy left by Lorne Coe following his election as a member of provincial parliament for Whitby-Oshawa.
