Nearly $400,000 more is needed to complete a large chunk of the city’s road work this summer.
Councillors in the city’s finance committee have approved an increase of $397,259.36 for work being done on several city streets after the lowest compliant bidder for the project came in above the city’s $1.6-million budget.
Awarded to Hardco Construction Ltd, the work includes the reconstruction of Cubert Street, Sinclair Avenue, Park Road South and Hibbert Avenue. It also included the construction of a cul-de-sac on Trick Avenue, rehabilitative work on Cadillac Avenue South and the extension of the roadway storm sewer on Hortop Street.
The Region of Durham will also be replacing services in conjunction with these projects, which brings the final cost of the project to more than $3 million.
