Men’s baseball: Lords open the year with a sweep in Syracuse

It could not have been a better start to the season for the Durham College baseball team as they swept the Onondaga Lazers 2-0 in Syracuse, NY on Sept. 3.

Things looked bad for Durham in their opening game trailing the Lazers 5-1 after four innings of play. It took some time but the Lords’ bats would eventually wake up as they scored three in the fifth and two in the sixth to take the lead and the victory 6-5.

Game two was a one-run game until the fourth inning when the Lords put up five runs on the scoreboard to take a commanding 6-0 lead. The Lords would tack on two more and allow just one to earn the 8-1 victory.
