Maple syrup fest right around the corner

The 43rd annual Maple Syrup Festival is set to get underway in the coming weeks.

Get your pancake forks ready.

With the approach of spring the birds will be singing and pancakes will be flipping at the 43rd Annual Maple Syrup Festival at Purple Woods Conservation Area in Oshawa.

The Central Lake Ontario Conservation (CLOCA) will be hosting the festival starting on Friday March 9th.  The dates of the Festival are as follows: March Break: (9 to 11) & (14 to 18) and weekends March 24/25 and April 7/8.  The Festival will not be open on March 11, 12 or Easter weekend.

Advanced general admission tickets will be available online ( or at the CLOCA Admin Office, 100 Whiting Avenue, Oshawa during business hours at a cost of $5/person plus hst.  Children two and under are free.  It is strongly advised that visitors purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.  Only a limited number of general admission tickets will be available at Purple Woods at a cost of $6.00/person plus hst (debit and credit card only).    Please note, general admission tickets do not include pancakes or horse-drawn wagon rides.

The event will showcase 400 years of the maple syrup history in Ontario through interpretive tours and displays.  The Heritage Hall will provide a rustic indoor heated setting to enjoy pancakes covered in 100 per cent maple syrup and the Heritage Store will be open to satisfy your sweet tooth with maple syrup, and maple treats.  As well, there will be lots of free hands-on activities, games and crafts for the kids and kids at heart. For a small fee, one can enjoy fresh maple taffy on weekends only, or a horse-drawn wagon ride offered daily, down by the Sugar Shack.

If the trails are too challenging for you or those with physical limitations, a shuttle service for individuals is available.  Please inform staff when you arrive, if you require this service.
