Durham police have arrested two men following a shooting in Oshawa.
On Monday, June 15 around 4:20 p.m., police responded to an armed person call at a residence on Malaga Road in Oshawa. Once on scene, police found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg.
The suspect became upset with a female in the residence who was assaulted. An altercation took place between the suspect and the victim. The suspect then left returning with a gun, kicking in the door, and shooting the male victim.
There were other occupants in the residence, but no one else was hurt. The shooting victim was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre and is in stable condition. The female victim suffered non-life threatening injuries. All parties are known to each other.
Police say witnesses reported a male suspect fled the scene in a Honda Civic following the shooting. A short time later, police stopped a suspect vehicle in the area of Sinclair Avenue in Oshawa. Two male occupants fled the vehicle and were stopped after a short foot chase. Both men were arrested and charged.
A 25-year-old Oshawa man has been charged with aggravated assault, break and enter, assault, assault with a weapon and several firearm and breach of probation charges.
A 25-year-old Peterborough man has also been charged with two counts of possession of stolen property.
Both men were held for bail hearings. Further charges are anticipated.
