A 24-year-old man is facing charges after stabbing a man who attempted to intervene in a dispute over a dog.
On July 10, at approximately 2:00 p.m. officers responded to Bloor Street East near Simcoe Street in Oshawa for a stabbing. When police arrived they located a man suffering from a stab wound. He was transferred to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police learned the man had been an innocent bystander when he observed a dispute over a dog. When he attempted to intervene, he was stabbed by the accused who then fled in a vehicle. Police were able to identify the suspect and he was arrested at his residence on Garden Street in Whitby.
Now the 24-year-old man is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous and breach of a recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing.
