A 42-year-old man is facing more than 50 charges for defrauding multiple victims at LA Fitness locations in Durham Region.
On Nov. 2, members of the Offender Management Unit arrested the suspect who was wanted in connection to several thefts from LA Fitness locations in Oshawa and Whitby.
It’s believed the accused attended LA Fitness locations in Durham, where he would enter the men’s locker room. Once inside, lockers were broken into and victims’ property stolen, including identification, credit cards and bank cards. The accused used the stolen items to make fraudulent purchases and cash withdrawals.
Vladimir Pocklington, 42, faces more than 50 fraud-related charges, including theft under $5,000, fraud under $5,000, possession of stolen property obtained by crime under $5,000, breach of probation, theft or credit card and unauthorized use of credit card. He was held for a bail hearing.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have been victimized to come forward if they have not reported any similar incident to police.
