An Oshawa man seriously injured after his bike was hit by a car has died.

Durham police have announced that Bakari John, 21, of Oshawa succumbed to the injuries he sustained after being hit by a car earlier this month. According to police, a car hit two cyclists on Cedar Street shortly before 1 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4. The vehicle, a white Honda Civic, initially stopped and both occupants approached the injured cyclists. However, they both ran back to the vehicle and fled the scene.

The vehicle’s driver is described as a white female with shoulder-length hair.

The passenger is described as a white male in his mid 30s, younger than the driver, and five feet and eight inches tall with a heavy build.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white 2016 model Honda Civic with damage to the front passenger side bumper and is missing the black louvers located under the passenger side headlight. Police say the vehicle may also have damage to the hood and windshield.
