Police have arrested a 35-year-old man after he deliberately damaged the gas line at the rear of a building causing a significant leak.
On Monday, July 24, 2017, at approximately 7:40 p.m., members of Central East Division responded to the gas leak on King Street West in Oshawa. The leak was at the rear of a residential building, and was quickly shut off with the assistance of Oshawa Fire Services.
After investigating the damage, police noted that it appeared to be deliberate and were able to identify a suspect.
The man fled the scene, but was located and arrested without incident. There were no injuries as a result of the leak.
A 35-year-old male of Simcoe Street South in Oshawa has been charged with mischief/property damage endangering life and failing to comply with his probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
