A week dedicated to being safe around fires will get started with a party.
The city is hosting its kick-off event for the annual Fire Prevention Week at the South Oshawa Community Centre Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will be lots of fun for the whole family, and will include meeting local firefighters, touring around fire trucks and safety demonstrations.
Those looking for some more hands-on fun can take their shot in the fire hose target practice or on the combat obstacle course.
Kids will also get the chance to meet Fire Services Sparky and Rescue Ronnie, Molly the fire dog and McDonald’s Grimace.
Door prizes at the event include a TV, Oshawa Generals tickets and more.
Oshawa Fire Services will be hosting a free pancake breakfast that morning as well, with all donations will be given to Grandview Children’s Centre, and non-perishable food items to Simcoe Hall Settlement House.
