With the ink barely dried on the contracts of top prospects Serron Noel Will Ennis, the Oshawa Generals have secured Latvia’s own Renars Krastenbergs for the upcoming season.
Selected by the Gens in the second round of the import draft, Krastenbergs, a 17-year-old eligible for next year’s NHL draft, will add some serious skill to the lineup, according to Oshawa’s GM Roger Hunt.
“This is another exciting addition to the Generals from this off-seasons draft class. After watching Renars at the Under-18 World Championship, we know he will bring added skill to our line-up and compliment the current players we have in our locker room,” Hunt states in a news release.
At the Under-18 tournament, Krastenbergs led his team in points with two goals and six assists in eight games. He spent last season playing AAA with the TPH Thunder, where he score nine goals and nine assists in 30 games.
