Investigators searching for witnesses following beating outside Whitby pub

A 40-year-old man was taken to hospital after being beaten outside a pub in downtown Whitby.

On Sunday, July 23, 2017, at approximately 3:00 a.m. members from Central West Division responded to an assault call that occurred in the area of Byron Street and Elm Street. The victim contacted police and advised that he was assaulted on the streets after leaving a nearby pub at approximately 2:40 a.m. Investigators are appealing for witnesses to come forward and provide information about the assault.  It is believed that the male suspect was accompanied by a female.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
