Lakeridge Health is among the best hospitals in the province to go to if you’ve had a stroke, according to a new review by Accreditation Canada.
The group, which ranks healthcare providers across the country, gave Lakeridge a score of 99 per cent in its latest review.
“To have outside experts come in and be blown away by our stroke services is just incredible,” states Kevin Empey, Lakeridge Health’s president and CEO, in a news release. “All of us in Durham Region should feel tremendously proud of the quality care that’s right here in our own backyard.”
The review was conducted last month, during which time officials from Accreditation Canada spent four days scoring staff at the Oshawa hospital on 235 items, as well as talking with staff, doctors, patients, and outside groups such as the region’s paramedic service.
“This award wasn’t based on a paper exercise – the evaluators actually shadowed our team and talked with the folks we care for,” states Empey.
