Looking to get into the hockey spirit before the start of the NHL season? Well, Meineke’s 3-on-3 Tournament in support of Grandview Children’s Centre could be the perfect way to do it.

Running on Saturday, Oct. 3 in the shared parking lots between Meineke Car Care Centre and McIntosh-Anderson-Kellam Funeral Home on King Street East, the tournament is looking for 40 teams for both a recreation division (open to all ages) and a competitive division for those 16 and up.

Registration is $300 per team, with all proceeds going to Grandview.

Meineke owner Shane Vine says the tournament is all about Grandview and supporting the kids that benefit from its services.

“They deserve everything,” Vine says. “I’m just trying to do something to help the kids.”

The tournament, which will run rain or shine, is also sponsored by the Oshawa Generals and will see several players and team mascot Deke making appearances.

Prizes will also be given away to the winners of both divisions, including a box suite at the GM Centre for a Generals game, a $520 value, and the winners in the competitive division will secure themselves a box suite at the Gens game the very next day, along with 20 additional suite tickets and a pair of parking passes, a $740 value.
