The official start to the 2018-19 season for the Oshawa Generals has begun.
The team started its training camp this week, starting on Monday (Aug. 27) and set to wrap up on Thursday, Aug. 30.
Fifty players suited up to give coaches and team executives a chance to see what they have to offer.
Teams were divided into Team Lindros and Team Orr, taking part in eight scrimmages over the four-day period.
Vice-president and General Manager Roger Hunt said he would need to be watching closely.
“I’m extremely excited about this upcoming training camp. I think it will be one of the most competitive camps in recent memory as players compete for spots on our team,” Hunter said.
The Generals will play a total of four exhibition games prior to the start of the regular season.
Two of these games will take place in other cities within Durham Region, including Saturday, Sept. 15 versus Mississauga at the Ajax Community Centre at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 16 against the rival Peterborough Petes at 6 p.m. at the Scugog Arena in Port Perry.
The Generals open the regular season on the road on Friday, Sept. 21 against the Kingston Frontenacs.
The first time the Generals will be at home this season for our Ontario Motor Sales Home Opener will be Sunday, Sept. 30 when the North Bay Battalion come to town.
