Gens Nico Gross to represent Switzerland
Oshawa Generals defenseman Nico Gross will represent Switzerland at the 2018 IIHF World U18 Championships.
Gross was the Generals 2017 Import Draft selection and in his first Ontario Hockey League season, he appeared in 58 games accumulating four goals and 10 assists for 14 points. He is ranked 47th by NHL Central Scouting heading into this year’s entry draft.
Gross has played for his country on numerous occasions at an international level and twice at World Junior Hockey Championships. This past December he was an assistant captain on the team at the World Juniors and saw high praise amongst the media covering the tournament for his play on the blue line and his leadership with the team.
Gross will join Gens forwards Allan McShane and Serron Noel, who were previously named to Team Canada, in the tournament.
The 2018 IIHF World U18 Championships will take place from April 19 to 29 in Chelyabinsk and Magnitogorsk, Russia.
