Generals and McIver part ways

The Oshawa Generals have announced the coaching contract for assistant coach Nathan McIver will not be renewed upon its completion on May 31, 2020.

The decision comes in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, as effects from the virus have required restructuring by the organization.

“Nathan is an amazing family man and he’s been a great assistant coach with our organization,” says general manager Roger Hunt. “Myself and our organization wish him nothing but the best as he moves on from our hockey club. He will land on his feet, and where he does they will be a better place for it.”

McIver has been an assistant coach with the Generals for the past four seasons, joining the club prior to the 2016-17 season. He played 10 professional seasons as a defenceman in the National Hockey League and American Hockey League before joining the Generals in his first coaching role.
