Several UOIT and Durham College athletes took time out of their pre-season preparations to do some good.
A group of students has donated 80 pairs of soccer cleats to Football for Good, a charity which brings soccer to communities ravaged by war. The cleats donated by the Oshawa students will make their way to the Gulu United Football Club, a soccer academy based in northern Uganda in an area hit hard by recent conflict between Ugandan government forces and the Lord’s Resistance Army rebel group.
“A huge thank you goes out to the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and Durham College for their donation,” states Adrian Bradbury, the founder of Football for Good, in a news release. “Their support is making a huge impact here in northern Uganda.”
